Overflowing Joy!

Last fall, one of our Friends in Uganda came to us with an urgent need. His church’s hand pump well, installed 13 years ago, had once provided plenty of water for their small congregation. But over time, the site had grown into a thriving campus—home to nearly four dozen children and a school serving almost 600 students. The little hand pump simply couldn’t keep up. Groundwater levels dropped, bathrooms ran dry, and illness spread. The school needed a new well—and quickly!

Thanks to a generous donor, that prayer has been answered. Last October, drilling began for a new deep well. A sturdy brick building was constructed to hold large storage tanks, and pipelines were laid to carry clean water to bathrooms and showers throughout the school. Today, this new system provides an incredible 4,000 liters of water per hour—more than enough for every student and teacher.

Even better, the community surrounding the school is thriving, too. With the new deep well in place, the original hand pump has recovered, and now serves local families and nearby students. Between the two wells, more than 1,000 people are blessed every single day with clean, safe water!

Pastor Samuel shared, “Since we finished the water project, a number of wonderful things has happened. Before, our children got sick with typhoid fever all the time, but since we got clean water, illness has greatly decreased.” With taps throughout the compound, the students can drink freely, stay clean, and focus on learning. Their strength and joy have returned.

Enrollment has already risen—from 607 to 730 students—as parents see a healthy, hopeful future for their children. “Because we have enough water,” Pastor Samuel adds, “we’ve planted a demonstration garden for the children. We care for several special needs children in our home, and the steady water supply has made caring for them much easier. Teachers and students all go home clean each day. The Lord has been so good to us!
