2025: So Much to Celebrate!

And just like that, it’s the middle of January.

January is Hibernation Month in the northeast. Snow covers the ground, everything is frozen, the days are short and the nights are long. And we’ve been in partial-hibernation here, too… finishing up end-of-year bookkeeping, planning for the next few months, taking care of some much-needed office work like software updates. (Cue the collective groan!)

This is the drawing on my whiteboard right now…

But!

2025 was quite the year, and as we’ve run the numbers, we’ve found lots to celebrate!

54 new wells finished.

5 schools and old-age homes with filtration systems.

Private bathrooms and bathing stalls in 3 villages.

There’s so much to be proud of. But what does it really mean?

It means that Jyothi will be able to go to school, instead of having to spend her days walking to collect water.

Jyothi’s well was dedicated in February 2025, bringing clean water to more than 300 people from all walks of life.

It means that Amina can drink the tap water in her home without getting sick.

A woman fills a bottle of water

More than 30 men and women aged 80 or older live in this home.

It means that Manisha can take care of herself without fear of assault.

A woman enters a bathhouse

Each of these four-room buildings is open to everyone in the village, giving each person a safe place to use the bathroom and do their daily hygiene routine.

More than numbers, this is what matters: that regardless of what age, gender, religion, or class someone is, they deserve to have clean water. And every water project we build gives real people the opportunity to live happier, healthier, more hopeful lives.

That’s something to celebrate!
